MISSION STATEMENT AND VISION

Someone has a stroke every 40 seconds in the US. Medical advancements have made it possible for more people to survive and recover from strokes, but this is a lengthy process. As it turns out, about 80% of strokes are preventable, but a lack of resources and education can make prevention more difficult. Our mission at Strokes to (2) Life Initiative is to reduce the impact and likelihood of strokes in greater risk communities, through education, mental, and financial assistance, as well as increasing preparation for unforeseen events associated with stroke.

After suffering a bilateral cerebellum stroke, my entire life was altered. I went from serving my country on active duty in the Air Force and running a business alongside my husband to being disabled and retired in just a matter of minutes. My life’s duties as a new wife and mom was forced to be put aside because I wasn’t the same person anymore. In my own strenuous stroke recovery journey, I’ve discovered some powerful tactics that I know will also benefit other survivors. It was at that point that I felt empowered to launch Strokes 2 Life Initiative so I could continue serving and protecting others in a new and even greater capacity.

When I connected with Tiera through another organization helping veteran warriors I anticipated that I would provide support and inspiration to my warrior. What I didn’t know was that Tiera would be the embodiment of the word warrior. Her strength & willpower became an inspiration in my life. I am so grateful for meeting her. We started the journey of restoring her physical strength, activities in to fulfill her love for serving others and writing. In return she inspired me to tap into my inner strength. Despite her physical setbacks after suffering a bilateral cerebellum stroke she didn’t lack her inner strength. Tiera showed me how to go beyond surviving and start thriving. I’m glad to see that the Strokes To life initiative will be shared with the world simply because I believe a lot of people will benefit just as I have.

Tiera Richardson is one of the most extraordinary women I’ve ever met. She is selfless, genuine, and has a heart to serve people. She’s a true leader and friend. I can remember when I needed help with my business and I didn’t know it was her anniversary but her and her husband came to help me with a presentation that he had scheduled for a group of people that needed our help. I have been encouraged by her resiliency, persistence from all that life has thrown her way. I have truly been inspired to be a better person and to go after my dreams and goals with vigor and tenacity because I’m associated with Tiera. Witnessing go through her recovery as a cerebellum stroke survivor has made me dismiss all excuses and go harder. Strokes To Life equals an abundant life to heal, grow and share life’s meaningful experiences. My sister,  friend I love you to life!
